Many Voices, Many Visions

New York State Literary Center
Hello,

"Picturing Our Dreams"  the exhibition of artwork by incarcerated youth in Arts, Literacy, and the Classroom Community at Link Gallery, Rochester City Hall has been extended until January 31, 2012! Make sure you don't miss it. Take home a dream.

My dream is when I die I don't want people crying. I want people smiling and saying his words stopped me from hurting someone.

My dream is to learn how to be a good father, to be the father I never had and to be  there for my children.

The "Picturing Our Dreams" mural will be featured in
Prison Health News. Prison Health News is a quarterly publication that  goes out to thousands of subscribers across the country. Founded in 2001, Prison Health News is written by and for people who have been in prison or are currently living behind the walls.

"After sharing and discussing artworks from across the country with the editorial staff, everyone around the table agreed that the 'Picturing Our Dreams' mural and message really embody the struggle of prisoners across the nation."

We are asking for your support on Roc the Day on December 8. Your support will help us continue our nationally recognized partnership with Rochester City School District and the Office of The Sheriff, County of Monroe.

Nobody
cared about me,
so
why
should I care.

The New York State Literary Center cares about our community's underserved, disconnected youth.

Children
with no fathers,
fathers
with lost children,

this may be hard for some to relate to, but I have lived the truth of these words.

The New York State Literary Center needs your help to continue its commitment to our community's most underserved youth, those young people in the justice system.

We ask you to visit Roc the Day and give to the New York State Literary Center on on December 8th.

Thank you,

Dale Davis
Founder and Artistic Director
